The last working day for staff at Knowsley Carers Centre this year is Wednesday 23rd December. We will open again on Monday 4th January. If during this period you have any urgent concerns please contact the Knowsley Access Team on Tel 0151 443 2600. Non urgent messages can be left on our answer service but will not be picked up until 4th January.
Care Home Visits
Important updates on new guidance for Care Home Visits and the Coronavirus vaccine.
The guidance for providers does allow for care home visits to happen indoors. The guidance applies to all care homes – regardless of which Tier the care home is in. Visitors will need to take a Coronavirus test and if that comes back negative, will need to wear PPE throughout the visit. Physical touching, such as holding hands and hugging, will be allowed.

Eligible for a free flu vaccination?
All children and adults with learning disabilities and their carers (family member or paid supporter) are identified as eligible for a flu vaccine as part of the National Flu Immunisation programme.
People with learning disabilities are less likely to get the flu if the people around them have also been vaccinated. Family carers can get a free flu vaccination as well as health and social care workers. Services should make changes that help people with learning disabilities have a flu vaccination. Reasonable adjustments are a legal requirement and may be required for a person with a learning disability who might not otherwise get the vaccination.

The theme for this years Carers Week is Make Caring Visible and now more than ever during the covid 19 outbreak its imperative that carers are recognised and valued for what they do. This year, were unable to celebrate Carers Week in our usual way with events and activities at the Carers Centre but you can find out more about how carers have been experiencing the lockdown in our new newsletter,(see publications) or have a look at the Healthwatch E bulletin where members of Carers Vision are telling their stories throughout the week.
